I'm heading back out tomorrow for my second helping of Cannonsburg SGA for the season. I'm well behind on the training end of the cardio as well as saddle time. But I've been working on core and upper body strength so far this year and I hope it proves to be the difference with my showing this year. I just have to slowly build up the endurance and cardio before settling in later in the year to work on speed and power.
The more years I do this, the more I seem to try. The good thing is that I learn every year... The bad thing is that not every year is a building block from the previous year and I seem to drop a few notches. Frustrating.
The Trek is dialed in with the full range of the big ring on all of the rear cogs... the middle rubbing slightly on either end and the granny not worth going to on the smaller cogs but ready to go if I need to crawl up something. So far, I haven't required the granny and have contemplated chucking it. But the minuscule weight savings doesn't out-weigh the insurance policy it provides when I have nothing left for a power climb. Eh... more testing while I'm out there threading the needle in the pines or surfing over the sand.
BTW... come out if you can... I will be at the trailhead between 5:30 and 6 and will do 2-3 laps.
