Well, no biking for me for the next few days. In fact, due to several uncontrollable mishaps lately, I will be strapped to little activity for a bit... as well as being not so active for the last few days. Of course, the rains since the 12 Hours of Pando have kept me off the bike for the most part. And much of the past couple of gorgeous days have been occupied with trying to catch up on the work I need to put into the restoration of the house. But now I may be side-lined for something completely unforeseen and out of the blue. The other day, while mowing the lawn (the grass was getting a little out of hand due to the rains in the area) I stumbled across something I didn't want to...
I felt a pinch on my leg, then another. I looked down to see the horror... a large number of bees/wasps/hornets clinging to my legs. I started to swat at them and eventually realized that was a dumb thing to do and immediately went into a dead sprint for the hose. I took the stings as I did the rigmarole to get the water going. I then soaked myself and kicked off as many of those black and yellow terrors as I could. I finally got them all off, but in reality, they won that battle.
How does all this relate to my cycling? Well, the next day my foot and ankle decided to swell up like a balloon and make my toes start to tingle. Not a good thing. Since the weekly ride is tonight and my ankle looks like I have a cankle (a single ankle and calf) I won't be able to suit up for the ride. Aggravating the area only causes more irritation and swelling. No need for that. This also puts a dampener on my running as it also requires me to abuse the ankle and stuff it into a shoe.
Anyway, I've only had a single run since Pando, and that isn't good. It was only a short one to get back into the groove as I enter the Autumn training schedule. I hope the weather holds out and lets me get a ride... or at least a run in soon. Ugh.
