The road of life is never cake. It seems like I have been traveling a long, crooked path for some time and the payoff (hopefully) is coming near. I am at the point of this journey where I now have to sell my home. It really wouldn't be a concern except that the housing market (ahem) sucks. For those not in the know, I've secured permanent employment out of state and plan on pulling up 20 years of living in one city (several residences) and starting fresh. So since I (and my wife too) will be making the move... we will also be looking to find another house to buy. On the flip-side of the selling-a-home dilemma, we will be looking for a good deal on the next one... a few good areas either a few blocks from Lake Michigan or a quaint Stepford-wives village a few miles inland. I'm also rummaging through benefits and training paperwork on top of attempting to staying on top of orchestrating the move. Sure the new company tries to make it a no-brainer... but this is far from that, believe me. Tougher? Coordinating everything with the wife (heheh...). As I said... life ebbs and flows.
On a more selfish level, I decided to drag one of my mountain bikes to my temporary living quarters, aka tiny box. What you see in the pic above is the bike I chose to bring along; my Trek Fuel 98 upgraded to sub-25 pounds of cross-country trail beating. Also in the pic above is me at the 2007 12 Hours of Pando. I hope to be in similar shape by April... the slight gut on me in the pic is acceptable since the spare tire I've acquired since working in a remote state away from my wife and amenities I've accumulated over the years. By Summer I expect to be in even greater shape. When we settle in, I plan to hook-up with the local gym to supplement my current (crappy) workout choices... they even provide personal trainers!!
Anyway, I have a lot of paths to walk and keep untangled. Wish me a little luck so I can keep my sanity. Thanks....
