I was staring at the bikes last night while wrestling with my car. I had a rogue headlight bulb that just would not go on. Eventually, I found another bulb and easily put it in place... but for nearly an hour... ARGH! My hands are all cut up from the wrestling match.
It came to be last night that this year's riding is pretty much over for me. Sad day. Since the nights will slowly creep unto my quiting hour and my weekends are always devoted to the house or dealings with family and friends, I have no time. Rarely can I get away for a few hours (without feeling too guilty) and take in my surroundings while dashing through the woods on one of my bikes. Unfortunately, I already realize this is a formula for self destruction for me. I will detonate, brood, be grumpy, etc. without the time outs.
From here through the winter, I need to put into place and into habit, workouts and such to keep me sane primarily. And of course as fit as possible through the holidays and doldrum months.
Contributing to the difficulty of getting in quality workouts is the fact that where I work, there is a new headquarters being built. I am working in a remote location away from the corporate fitness center. I used to just wander over at lunch and WHAM! I'm changed and working out. Now I actually have to drive to another building, park, hike up to the locker rooms and gym and then come back. It easily chews up 15 minutes going back and forth. But... I gotta do it.
When I first lost a ton of weight, I ran every other day no matter the weather. People thought I was a nut... and I was. Now I dread becoming that again, but from what I remember, running in a full blizzard with giant snowflakes floating all around you was a very enlightening experience.
Also, I would like to get in some weight training and core work done over the winter. I haven't really done that in several years. I used to be able to leg press the entire stack a few years ago... and even do chin ups! That would be awesome to get to that point again.
Anyway, I'll be working on a plan and should be posting it here if it has anything to do with riding or on Fit, Fat or Happy. Tah tah!
