I seem to have wandered off lately from the core topic of cycling. But really, this is more about the cycles of life than it is about just cycling... a lot of the techy-tech stuff about cycling occurs on my cycle•centric blog anyhow. If cycling is what you want, you may want to wander over there for a while... but be fore warned, it is by no means getting the updates RoqueRode will get... just because this is more the emotion of cycling and cycles as they pertain to my life and psyche. I'm sure this screaming downhill bomb will soon have me back grinding up a technical uphill. Ask the Dirt Dads... it's one of the things I do best ;-).
Spring is getting closer by the day. And my Trek Fuel 98 is in need of some care. I pulled the rear wheel off a few days ago because it was flat. I pumped it up and set it in the basement to see if it holds air... and it does. Now I just have to see how long it holds air. A waiting game. I also want to do a little dérailleur swap from the 952 on there now to a 972 I recently acquired. There isn't anything wrong with the 952 as I have had a few of them and they all work beautifully... I just really like the new XTR stuff so much better than the 960 series XRT that I had to get one to try. I with I had the means for a full groupo, but I currently have nadda to put toward such frivolity (see previous posts). I'm sure I have some fresh cable and housing in my parts bin so it shouldn't be a problem and I'll get fresh cable in there to boot. The thing I am a bit miffed about is that the new 972 doesn't have a barrel adjuster. So any tweaks are limited to the adjusters at the shifter. Something I'm not a real fan of. Anyhoot... once I get it all put together and a bit of time on it, I will put together a review and place it on my cycle•centric blog.
Anyone interested in a great Bontrager Race mountainbike? Thinking about a 29er hardtail like the Gary Fisher Superfly. Just a thought right now... but the henkerin' is there.
