A Bitter January

It has been a pretty bitter January so far. It's like 7 degrees outside with a crazy low windchill... something in the neighborhood of -20. Not the most ideal time to go out and ride. So finally, I got out to the garage and pulled the road bike off the rack and brought her into the basement. In my cyclecentric blog, I am reviewing the Continental Ultra HomeTrainer tire. I took a few minutes and also pulled down my spare wheelset and mounted the HomeTrainer onto the rear wheel. It went on without any trouble and inflating it up to 120psi was a cinch. I swapped out wheels and mounted it onto my trainer, a Performance TravelTrack 2000. It is fairly sturdy and the fluid resistance is very good. Everything is now ready to go to take me into March.

Also, it has been tough to not just get to the gym, but to get enough time and motivation to get the point where I want to go to the gym. As a recourse, I have been doing early morning calisthenics. A ton of push-ups, planks and such... then walk into the shower. I am still trying to keep with my Saturday AM runs as well, but I swapped out my run this weekend in exchange for shoveling snow. Not a fair trade. If I can somehow score a chin-up bar, I can do a decent workout at home without too much trouble. Just getting the motivation going, is all...
