Ewww... Blood!

Well, I went to the doc's office yesterday. The bruise on my love handle had progressed into a painful lump. Something like a hard boiled egg-sized mass laying under the skin. It made my love handle look all deformed and waaayyyy different than the other side. Weird having an asymmetrical love handle. So the doc determined it was a hemotoma. Uhh... what? Well, it is blood collecting under the skin, appearing to be a lump. It needed to be drained... and he couldn't do it. So I got an appointment at Saint Mary's hospital for a... ultrasound guided drainage. Yippee. So I wandered to the hospital and made my way to the ultrasound lab.

I had a nice little chat with Jen, the Physician's Assistant about what happened with a little follow-up regarding Cannonsburg SGA. Seems she and some of her friends have turned some laps there. Anyway, the doc finally arrived and started up the procedure... to drain, drain, drain the wound.

A few syringes of blood later, I was on my way to the men's locker room to change. And then, off I went.

Currently, I am watching the wound to see if it fills back up again. If so... it is worse than a simple drainage and I may have torn some sensitive tissues. At best, everything is done, it has clotted shut and I am OK. Worst? I would require surgery to fix the hidden damage (torn tissue, nerve, vein, etc.) and may be laid up from strenuous activity for a while (I get fat). Which may mean I have to bail on the Iceman this year.

Ommmm... think good thoughts. Think good thoughts....
